Bhupesh Baghel on PM Modi and Jawaharlal Nehru
Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel stirred up a political storm with his recent comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Baghel asserted that Modi could never become like India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, even if he were to be reborn multiple times. This statement has sparked intense debate and controversy across the political spectrum.
Baghel’s Criticism of PM Modi’s Statements
Bhupesh Baghel criticized PM Modi’s recent remarks, stating, “Nowadays, the PM says anything he wants. He started by calling our manifesto an agenda of the Muslim League, Mangalsutra, mutton, fish, and buffalo… Now he is saying that the Parmatma has sent him, which means he is not a normal human. It shows that he is mentally unstable.”
Baghel further added, “He is trying to make a place by defaming but he is not even the dust of Nehru’s feet.”
Comparing Modi and Nehru
Baghel did not hold back in his comparison of PM Modi and Jawaharlal . He emphasized the significant contributions of Nehru to India’s history and development, suggesting that Modi’s attempts to undermine Nehru’s legacy were futile. “Rahul Gandhi is the grandson of a leader who cut Pakistan into two pieces but Modi ji went all the way to Pakistan to eat Biryani… PM Modi is trying to make a place by defaming but he is not even the dust of feet. He can’t become even if he takes birth 10 times,” Baghel said.
Baghel’s Critique of the Election Commission
In addition to his remarks about PM Modi, Baghel also criticized the Election Commission. He contrasted the efficiency of the election process during the era of ballot papers with the current digital era. “In the era of ballot papers, the election panel used to release all voting data within 24 hours. But in the digital era, the commission did not give the voting data even after 8-10 days, and when it did, the percentage of polling increased by 6-8 per cent,” Baghel noted.
