A horrific incident in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has left a family shattered. An elderly couple was tragically killed after their house was set on fire during a heated argument with their daughter-in-law’s family. This incident follows the alleged suicide of the couple’s daughter-in-law.
A Night of Despair
On Monday night, a 27-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide at her in-laws’ residence in the Muthiganj area. Upon receiving the news, her parents and relatives arrived at the scene, accusing the in-laws of foul play. Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Deepak Bhukar stated that the situation escalated into a heated argument, with the woman’s family suspecting murder.
From Argument to Inferno
Tragically, the argument took a nightmarish turn. In the throes of the confrontation, someone from the woman’s family allegedly set the in-laws’ house on fire. Prayagraj Though police intervened and rescued five people, the blaze ultimately claimed the lives of the elderly couple.
A Heartbreaking Discovery
After extinguishing the fire at around 3 am, authorities searched the charred remains of the house. It was during this search that the bodies of Rajendra Kesarwani (65) and his wife Shobha Devi (62), the deceased woman’s in-laws, were discovered.
The incident resulted in further casualties. The woman’s husband, Rajendra’s daughter Shivani, and Lovely Kesarwani, the wife of Rajendra’s younger brother, sustained injuries during the fire.
